Munich. The celebrated annual Dakar Rally is an endurance spectacle of man and machine and takes place once again on the challenging terrain of South America, 2-14th January 2017.
The 2017 Dakar Rally route will take in three countries (Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina) covering a distance of approximately 9000 km, of which more than 4000 km will be special stages. A longer duration at altitude has been planned for the 2017 Dakar, along with the usual assortment of strength-sapping desert-like heat, unforgiving dunes, rocky ravines and river beds. Add to this new navigation rules and the 2017 Dakar promises to be a racing spectacle of some note.
The 2017 Dakar Rally will again play host to a large “MINI Family” consisting of seven cars with selected international crews – all under the protective wing of experienced MINI motorsport partner X-raid.
The 2017 Dakar Rally will also see the race debut of the new MINI John Cooper Works Rally; a car built to win from experience gained with four successive Dakar Rally wins (2012-2015), and four FIA World cup titles.

December 24, 2
Tequila Patron ESM this week took delivery of its first of two new cars for the 2017 season, the Nissan Onroak DPi. Full-season drivers Scott Sharp, Ed Brown, Johannes van Overbeek and Ryan Dalziel ran the car's first laps at Sebring International Raceway for the two-day test this week.
The new car will take part in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship DPi program in the new-look Prototype class that gives manufacturers the ability to create custom engines and bodywork for the LMP2 cars. A result of a relationship between Tequila Patron ESM, Nissan NISMO, and Onroak, the 3.8-liter V6 Nissan Onroak DPi is the third car in the DPi program to be revealed this offseason. Toyota and Cadillac unveiled their cars earlier.
The entire Tequila Patron ESM squad was super excited to finally get our hands on the new Nissan Onroak DPi," Sharp said. "We had a very productive two days, and we were able to work through many introductory steps. We're a bit behind our competition in terms of testing miles but excited for the challenge ahead with this dynamic package."
Sharp and Dalziel will race the No. 2 car, joined by Luis Derani for the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup races. Brown and van Overbeek will fill the No. 22 for the full season, with Bruno Senna and Brendon Hartley stepping in for the endurance races.
The new Ligier is an evolution of an already good and successful car," van Overbeek said. "The new car, out of the box, is confidence-inspiring and easy to drive. There's lots of work left to do, but the Tequila Patron ESM team is up for the challenge. This also marks the first time working with Nissan and NISMO."
Official activities for the 2017 begin Jan. 6-8 at the Roar Before the 24, the first test for all IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competitors. Jan. 26-29.
