More Information On Vinyl Graphic Films ; The Different Types of Media Available & the Design Process

Typically we use both types as the film is delivered from 3M or MacTac, who supply our printers, we specify which types to use for each application. What determines the use is how we "assemble" the graphic look or Design, as some vinyls are more suited to certain uses, depending upon the desired final effect.



                 


We also use Reflective Films,...which is another type of vinyl that delivers more metallic & 3 Dimensional looks, as well as "holographic" and color change appearances. I have attached a few pictures of those type of designs for you here.

Once we can determine a look you want, then a type of film can be chosen for that design. Either way, the life expectancy is around 5 years or more depending upon how much exposure the boat is subjected to.
However, if it is scratched or damaged, the vinyl can be replaced with an exact print of the original design.



                 


Typically these are NOT laminated, but we can use a "clear coat " vinyl over top the design layer vinyl, it adds a bit more cost but dose give added protection & can be either a flat, gloss or high gloss finish. There are many "material looks" available as well, like Carbon Fiber, Metal, Galvanized Steel,...and these can be used as undercoatings with semi transparent vinyl designs laid on over top, and then a clear coat dose "bond" all of that together into one surface.

Think of all this like you would airbrushed paint, it works the same way in that you design a look to fit the boat then find the "techniques" to realize that effect. That is the reason that most all of our work is "custom art ", in that you can do so much with a creative thought process to really make just about anything happen.
